About This Coffee
While robusta is native to Uganda, arabica also has a long history with the African country. Arabica is produced mainly by smallholder farmers, and most of them are processed by hand.
These smallholders practice intercropping usually with traditional food crops such as banana trees, and other shade trees. Intercropping is helpful for a multitude of reasons. Trees provide relatively consistent shade and temperature, giving coffee cherries more time to mature and develop more flavour. Intercropping is also an added layer of protection against plant diseases.Â
